What to see

Santa Maria del Tiglio is one of the Romanesque jewels of Lake Como: a compact and "geometric" church, just steps from the water and next to San Vincenzo. The current building dates back to the 12th century and is situated in the area of the ancient baptistery (with paleochristian roots), which explains its layout and the genuinely "ancient" atmosphere.

From the outside, the contrast of the local stone bands (light/dark) and the bell tower embedded in the facade immediately catches the eye, a rare and highly dramatic detail. Inside, if you enter, you find a sober interior rich in history, with traces of medieval frescoes.
