What to see

The church is a structure dedicated to Christian religious worship.

The Church of San Sebastiano stands in a panoramic position in Vercana, in the hamlet of Caino. With its sober and austere façade, it was built in 1644 on top of a building dating back to around 1400. The dedication to San Sebastiano is likely due to the devotion brought by the local people who migrated to Sicily for over two centuries in search of work.

Inside, one can admire the left chapel dedicated to the Madonna del Carmine, built in the mid-seventeenth century and decorated in 1668, the altarpiece depicting the Crucifixion of Christ, and the organ by Giuseppe Alchisio from 1862, recently restored. Noteworthy is the gilded wooden statue in Baroque style of Santa Rosalia, acquired by the emigrants of Vercana in Sicily, along with various relics and sacred vestments kept in the church.
