What to see
At 1575 meters, the Rifugio Scoggione is located in the municipality of Piantedo, on the northern slope of Monte Legnone, in the western Orobie Valtellinesi Alps. A point of passage and a panoramic stop, it overlooks the upper Lake Como and the entrance to Valtellina. The Refuge is managed by the Cai of Colico and has a precise set of rules. It offers 24 beds, a shower, stove heating, and hot meals during the opening period.

From the Scoggione Refuge, the old military road crosses the larch forest with splendid views of Valchiavenna, lower Valtellina, and Monte Disgrazia, leading to the pastures of Alpe Legnone.
- 2Monte Legnone
Trail 1B is the classic route to ascend Monte Legnone. In about 2 hours and 45 minutes, with a difficulty level of EE, it traverses larch forests, alpine pastures, and steep sections up to the Cà de Legn shelter, before tackling the most challenging part towards the fore-summit and the final ridge equipped with ropes, leading to the panoramic summit.
Getting there
By car to Fontanedo and Rusico (743 m). Then on foot with about 900 m of quite challenging ascent to the Scoggione Refuge. Approximately 2 hours.
