What to see

Origins and History: Built at the end of the 12th century as a castle chapel at the behest of the Andreani counts, it stands in a strategic position that once controlled the communication routes to Valtellina. The dedication to Thomas Becket occurred just a few years after his martyrdom (1170). The Facade and Gothic Arches: It features a gabled structure modified in the Baroque period, with a molded portal from 1698 and a tripartite window. On either side of the entrance stand three imposing tomb monuments (funerary arches) in Gothic style belonging to the Andreani family, adorned with coats of arms and sculptures. The Interior and the Frescoes: The nave is a single aisle topped by sail vaults, modified in 1703 with the addition of the side chapels of Saint Joseph and the Madonna. On the northern and southern walls, there is an extraordinary cycle of frescoes rediscovered in 1966, dating from the 14th to the 16th century, including a unique representation of the Epiphany with the Madonna on the throne and the figure of Saint Christopher. The Bell Tower: It rises adjacent to the structure of the Castle of Corenno Plinio, perfectly integrating into the unmistakable medieval profile of the village overlooking Lake Como.
