The beaches: The coast offers wide free beaches of grass and pebbles, well-maintained and shaded. The most popular is Foppa beach, ideal for relaxation and equipped with services, bars, and play areas. Activities: Besides water sports, the area is perfect for trekking. The famous Sentiero del Viandante passes through here, and it's possible to hike towards Valvarrone or Monte Legnone. For families, there is also a floating water park on the lake. 🏰 History: From Roman Origins to the Middle Ages The origins of Dervio date back to the Roman era, when the village represented an important strategic and commercial hub along the communication routes connecting the Po Valley to the Alpine passes. Corenno Plinio: The historical gem of the municipality is this medieval hamlet, considered one of the most beautiful and intact villages of the Lario. It is perched on a rocky spur and characterized by narrow staircases carved into the rock (gradinate), ancient stone houses, and dominated by the majestic Castle of the Andreani family (14th century). The fortifications and churches: In the historic center of Dervio stands the tower of Castelvedro (5th-6th century), originally built as a defensive lookout point. Among the most important religious monuments are the Church of Saints Peter and Paul (with its Romanesque bell tower from the 11th century) and the Church of San Tommaso di Canterbury in Corenno, famous for the splendid 14th-century tombs of the local feudal lords.
