Formerly a Finance Corps barracks, it has been refurbished by the CAI Dongo and is located in a protected reserve rich in wildlife, serving as a strategic crossroads for the Alta Via del Lario and the historic ascents to the border ridges.
Getting there
Drive up to the Giovo Pass (1,706 m), then continue on foot along the flat mule track of the Alta Via dei Monti Lariani (1h15, easy trail E).
On foot through the border passes of the Bocchetta di Albano or the Portea, or following the challenging traverse of the Alta Via del Lario coming from Menaggio.
